  • Guaranteed RAM vs Burstable RAM

Guaranteed RAM is the RAM size solely designated to a VPS and can be used whenever the VPS requires extra memory. Burstable RAM essentially means additional RAM which can be temporarily added to the VPS in case of a memory shortage.

Guaranteed RAM – the amount of constantly available physical memory, which is stated in your account quota.
Burstable RAM – the amount of physical memory, available on a temporary basis for load spikes.

If you are talking pre VSWAP OpenVZ, the definitions above are correct, but it makes no real difference as there is no penalty for using the burstable RAM. (One of the main reasons it was deprecated).
