Changing the main IP address of a Virtual Machine (VPS) in SolusVM 2 can be necessary during migrations, IP reallocation, or network troubleshooting. The process is simple and can be completed from the SolusVM 2 admin interface.
π Note: Before proceeding, ensure that additional IP addresses are allocated and available for the VPS. You can check this under:
SolusVM 2 > Compute Resources > Plans > Edit
β Ensure the plan has more than one IP available.
β Steps to Change the Main IP Address
1. Log in to the SolusVM 2 Admin Panel
- Access the admin dashboard at
https://your-solusvm2-url.com/admin
- Authenticate with your admin credentials.
2. Navigate to the Virtual Server
- Go to
Virtual Servers
in the left-hand menu. - Search and click on the VPS you want to edit.
3. Open the Networking Tab
- Inside the VPS management page, click the Networking tab to view all assigned IP addresses.
4. Change the Main IP
- Locate the IP address you want to set as the new main IP.
- Click on the three-dot menu next to that IP and select βChange Main IPβ (or click the “Change” button if shown in a pop-up).
- Confirm the change when prompted.
π Optional: Remove the Old IP
If the old main IP is no longer needed, you can:
- Click the three-dot menu next to the old IP.
- Select Remove IP.

- Reboot the VPS if required.
- Confirm that the new IP is active by pinging it or connecting via SSH.
- Update any DNS or firewall rules if necessary.
